When you went to school, were you captivated by every teacher, excited by course content, free to create educational experiences that complemented your gifts?  Did anyone ask for your input or just wonder why you weren't interested and didn't pay attention? 

I am proposing An Expansive View of Education designed to enhance creativity, increase confidence and self esteem while empowering the student to develop his/her unique gifts that can then be translated into real world community life leading to a whole, well rounded, happy and compassionate citizen of the earth.  This site will feature innovative teachers, special ed and general ed students as well as my ideas to enhance everyone's joy of learning.  I Welcome Your Comments...

  THROUGH AUSTIN'S EYES
A Magical Journey into Autism

One night I had an incredible dream about
magical cherubs smiling my way and
gazing deeply into my eyes,
the windows of my soul.
There were two divine angel children
that bonded with me
and pledged to bring
Joy to the World.

One day, during a nanny job,
I was partnered with a
6 year old Russian boy
who was labeled autistic
by one of the staff members.
When Anatoly and I met
there was instant recognition
and I knew that this
enchanting being was one of
the angels in my dream.

Welcome to my website.  My name is Kamalani Rose and I live on Maui in Hawaii, USA.  It is so lovely to live on this island we call paradise. I look forward to exploring new and creative ways of education that inspire and empower.  I am a teaching artist with a focus on students in special education and those on the autism spectrum.  My work with special ed teacher, Lee Rochman, of Lokelani Intermediate School in Kihei inspired the ideas and themes of www.empowerededucation.org.
